Over the past several years our association has….
- In 2019 donated $2000 to the Scandia Valley First Responders for ice/water rescue equipment.
- Placed an AIS reminder sign at landing to drain and clean boats and trailers in 2018
- Placed a map of the lake at the DNR access
- Monitored water quality with a Sechi dish continually since 2001.
- Tested our lake water for total phosphorous and chlorophyll since 2007.
- Treated curly-leaf pondweed at the DNR access in 2007
- Treated curly-leaf pondweed on 55 acres on the west and southern shores in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
- Prepared a Lake Management Plan
- Adopted Lake Vegetation Management Plans in 2008 and 2011.
- Prepare and distribute bi-annual newsletters
- Moved for the creation of the Fish Trap Lake Improvement District and assisted in its development.
- Held annual fishing contests
- Held annual boat parades
- Applied for grants from the Initiative Foundation and the DNR in 2008 through 2011 and received a grant for $21,500 in 2011
- Worked with the MPCA in the fall of 2007 to revise incorrect ratings for Fish Trap Lake that were posted on the MPCA website
- Arranged for well water testing by Morrison County Planning and Zoning in 2008

- Worked with the DNR to schedule in June 2008 a delineation (mapping) of curly-leaf pondweed beds on Fish Trap Lake
- Worked with Morrison County Planning and Zoning in 2008 to conduct a shoreline assessment
- Worked with the IRS in 2009 to classify FTLPOA as a 501(c)(3)
- Worked with the DNR to schedule in April 2011 a delineation (mapping) of curly-leaf pondweed beds.
- Obtained approval from the DNR in 2011 for the lake-wide treatment of curly-leaf pondweed.
- Obtained a grant from the DNR in 2011 for $21,500 – the amount needed to cover all costs of curly-leaf pondweed treatment for 2011. Obtained additional grants in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
- Worked with Morrison County to amend an ordinance, providing for stricter septic enforcement.
- Established a Fish Trap Lake endowment for lake projects. The Initiative Foundation matched the first $10,000 of funds contributed to the endowment. The interest generated from the fund was used in 2015 and 2016 for lake quality studies.
- Work to reduce train noise through either elimination of a crossing in Lincoln or opposition to a second BNSF track through Lincoln.
